    What is Holistic Lifestyle Coaching?

    Mention “holistic coaching” and many people will automatically think of chanting and group meditation sessions. While these practices may benefit a great number of people, for most individuals a fully integrated hands on approach to total health is needed, and preferred.

    90% of all conditions are caused by mismanagement of diet and lifestyle factors. At M.A.S.K. Personal Training, our Holistic Lifestyle Coaching does NOT treat the condition that the individual has. Quite simply, we coach our clients in the creation of optimal health and wellness, thus reducing disease and injury risk, whilst promoting health, vitality and vigour.

    Our “total” approach to coaching examines individual daily habits such as food intake, and food intolerances, toxicity levels, stress, sleeping patterns and sleep quality, exercise and much more. By making simple step by step changes to daily routines, our clients have all reported significant improvements in their health, vitality and wellness, not only to themselves but also to their families.

Vanessa is the owner and creator of M.A.S.K Personal Training and has worked in fitness since 1998, though her interests in health, fitness and exercise go back much further. A keen ballet and tap dancer when very young paved the way for later pursuits which included acrobatics, track and field athletics, martial arts, body building and fitness modelling.

Vanessa’s dedication to her own training provides great inspiration to many clients, alongside a teaching style that is hugely motivating, inspirational and yields incredible results. Vanessa’s training as a Life Coach and vast industry experience has helped her develop her teaching to a very fine art, drawing the absolute best put of each and every client.

Vanessa’s high octane teaching skills have not gone unnoticed – her clients are energised and motivated after her sessions.

Marc has worked in fitness since 1996 and has gained an impressive array of qualifications to date, clocking up over 12,000 client training hours in the process. Marc’s dedication, hard work and sheer tenacity have led him to achieve simply incredible results with clients from backgrounds.

To date Marc has trained 3 World Champion athletes, celebrities, high profile business executives and many medically referred clients. Marc thrives on the challenge of creating truly unique programmes that ensure success for each and every client. A Martial Arts Master of over 30 years experience, Marc has achieved a European Kickboxing title in 1992, and 2 World Championship Bronze medals in 2011 and 2012.

Marc’s competitive longevity he attributes to paying particular attention to optimum training and nutrition. Marc adopts a truly holistic and unique approach to each and every client and thrives on helping others and making a difference.

My problem has always been keeping myself motivated. I would get bored with any activity very quickly and then would watch all my hard earned gains slowly fizzle away. When I started working with Marc I knew that what I needed was a push and to see some big results. If for no other reason than to keep me interested in what I was doing.

The first thing you will realise is that Marc is not your run of the mill Trainer. Being a good trainer is more than just being an encyclopedia of obscure exercises. It’s about understanding the individual. We took a good long look at my dietary habits, sleeping patterns, vitamin intake, exercise habits and mental attitude in general to see what would work for me. Marc created an exercise and diet programme specific to me and the goals that I had asked him to help me with.

One of Marc’s biggest skills is that he manages to push me harder than I could ever push myself but without leaving me terrified of the next session. In fact something has happened to me that I never expected. I find myself saying things like “Is that X kilos on there? Can we try a bit more?” or “How fast did I run that 5K last time? Ok. I’m going to try for ….” . I currently train three to five days a week. But don’t let that frighten you. I started at one day per week and moved on when I was ready. And that, I think, is what makes Marc’s approach so successful. It doesn’t matter what level of fitness you start with, Marc will find the right level for you that keeps you challenged and engaged without making you want to cry ( too much )

Marc wouldtell it straight but with good encouragement, so I knew if anyone could get me out a rut in terms of weightand fitness goals it would be him.The progress has been excellent.  No regrets.  I realise now that just going on this journey has taught meskills that will last a lifetime. It has been a much more holistic process than I anticipated.  I have beenable to train around injury and actually improved, when in the past I would have perhaps rested ortaken time out.  At my age (50+) this has been a big issue, and recovery as many who try to train andcompete at this age will say, the exercise is fine, it’s the recovery that’s the problem. Whatever issue Ihave faced, Marc has found a solution. It’s been like a family/team, not me on my own.The best result from working with Marc is getting my weight from 84kg back to 76kg which is where Ifought as a youngster.  I have competed with added vigour, and surprised myself and others with thesame speed and agility I had competing in my 20’s.  It’s a constant process and I now realise it’s part ofthe journey, and goals and results are just a small part of it.  So I suppose the biggest gain/result is justan appreciation of how complex and amazing our bodies/minds are, and just how we need to take timefor them, and the rewards from living a generally healthier life.

Last September 2015 I joined M.A.S.K. Personal Training on their 21 Day Fat Loss Programme.  At thetime I was running about 2 to 3 times a week at distances from 5k to 10k and had completed a halfmarathon but I had hit a plateau; my race times were not improving and my weight was stuck at slightlyheavier than I would have liked.  
The 21 Day Fat Loss Programme focused on both eating habits, diet and exercises and provided the valued kickstart I needed.  At first I was very skeptical of the advice but I stuck to it, with Vanessa firmly on my shoulder! Atthe end of the 21 day programme I had lost 10lbs and felt I had more energy than I had in years. I continued towork with Vanessa through to April and I lost a few more pounds, changed my body fat/muscle composition anddropped at least one dress size.
Through an improved diet suited to my body type I have learnt how to fuel my body and maintain energy levelsthrough the day which has had a positive impact on my overall health. The improved diet has meant I no longerneed to take medication to manage my IBS. My running times and endurance have all improved and in April Imanaged to complete my first marathon (London).
